Analysis: After finishing runner-up to Downers Grove North at last year's Illinois 3A State Championship, the Tigers enter the 2024 season with a chip on their shoulder and vengeance on the brain. Thomas Czerwinski and company are coming off of a runner-up finish at NXR Midwest, as well as a 15th-place performance at NXN. Yes, they lost a pair of scoring seniors to graduation, but they return four runners who ran 14:57 or faster last year over three miles and have a 1-5 split of 50 seconds.
In the three races they've competed in already this season, Plainfield North is 1-2, with a win over 61 teams at Detweiler at Dark to their name, but a pair of losses to Downers Grove North and Plainfield South at the EIU Showdown and Plainfield City Championship.
The path back to NXN is right in front of them, and the Tiger's biggest obstacle remains Downers Grove North, a team that has had their number over the last couple of years.
