Analysis: 2022 was a year that the Lynchburg, Virginia standout shined.
As the championship part of the season approached, Zealand finished third at Champs Sports South Regional meet with a 17:05 personal best for 5K.
She went and competed on one of the nation's fastest courses in Huntsville, Alabama for the RunningLane Cross Country Championships. While competing amongst an elite field, she finished fourth while battling the rainy conditions.
Zealand packed her bags and competed in California for Champs Sports Cross Country Nationals. As a junior, she crossed the finish line as the eighth-fastet runner on Balboa Park's course. Her cross country season didn't end there.
Zealand competed at the USATF National Cross Country Championships in January where she finished eighth with a 20:32 6K best. She was able to earn her spot to represent the U.S. at the World U20 Cross Country Championships where she finished 34th in the world with a 24:00 for 6K.
During the spring, Zealand was the runner up at New Balance Nationals Outdoor in the two mile with a 10:02 best and ninth in the mile with a 4:44.
