No. 24: Anthony Provenzano
- - -
School: Carmel (IN)
Year: 2024
2022 Notable Finishes: 13th at Champs Sports Midwest in 15:33.50; 10th at NXR Midwest in 15:02.20; 2nd at IHSAA State XC Championships in 15:11.20; 2nd at IHSAA Regional in 15:01.80; 5th at Nike XC Town Twilight in 15:02.60.
Analysis: Provenzano's time is now.
The Carmel High School senior will take over as the squad's No. 1 following a year where he trained and competed against -- and in some ways, shadowed under -- MileSplit50 Runner of the Year Kole Mathison, who scored a national title at Champs Sports Nationals last December.
And Provenzano certainly deserves it. He was second only to Mathison at the Indiana state championships in 15:11.20, was third at Semi-State and second at Regionals. He was also fifth at the Nike XC Town Twilight Invitational.
At the national level, he missed qualifying for Champs Sports Nationals by just three places and Nike Cross Nationals by just four spots.
He's coming off an outdoor season where he ran 8:54.94 for 3,200m.
