Top 7 Girls Events To Watch At Great Southwest

Girls Long Jump and Triple Jump

When: Saturday
Who: Jasmine Moore (TX),  Maya Evan (CO)

Why: Mansfield Lake Ridge junior Jasmine Moore has been almost unstoppable since her freshmen year. Moore has more wins than you can count on your fingers and toes combined. In this meet she will be looking to chase the national record in the triple jump. She already holds the national freshman and sophomore class records and has jumped all-conditions further than both the junior class and national record mark of 44 feet, 11 and three-quarter inches. That mark was set by West (Merrill F.) High School's Brittany Daniels in 2004. At the UIL Track and Field Championship Moore jumped an amazing 45-4.75 but it was heavily wind-aided by a +3.8 wind. Moore has improved with almost every jump this season and will be looking to do the same this weekend in Albuquerque.

Moore is also entered in the long jump which she holds the current US No. 1 all-conditions mark in. Moore's top all-conditions US No.1 mark is  21-0.25, but she holds the US No. 2 wind-legal mark of 20-7. On 2018 top the all-conditions long jump list, she sits behind Lutheran High School's (CO) Maya Evans who's jumped 20-8.5. Evans will also be competing this weekend along with US No. 2 on the top all-conditions list Alvin's (TX) Kynnedy Flannel. Flannel has jumped  21-0 this year.
