The Scoop: Port Arthur Memorial Makes History

2. The UIL Track and Field Championships Were The Best Show In The Country This Weekend

Texas was at the center of the high school track and field world this weekend during its University Interscholastic League Championships, held at the University of Texas.

Great weather. Determined athletes. Fast track.

The variables led to remarkable displays, including nine US No. 1 marks and times across boys and girls fields nationally.

  • Jasmine Moore two state titles and broke the sophomore national record in the triple jump with a leap of 43-4.75.
  • Port Arthur Memorial (more on them later) connected on two all-time performances in the 4x100 and 4x200
  • The girls 4x100 relay had three top 15 all-time performances
  • Kaylor Harris' double in the 100m hurdles and 4x100m
  • The boys 4x100 relay had seven of the top 10 times go down nationally
  • The Woodlands boys captured a team title just months after doing the same over the cross country season
  • With 93 points, the McKinney North girls scored the most points in UIL history
  • Fort Worth Boswell senior Jalen Seals went over 50 feet in the triple jump, becoming the first athlete to do it this season
  • Sam Worley doubled in the 800 and 1600m, grabbing a state record in 4:02.30.

But, one performance stood out above all...
