The Scoop: Port Arthur Memorial Makes History

3. Noah Lyles, recent high school graduate, goes 19.9 in Diamond League debut

Perhaps the most decorated sprinter in US high school history was destined for greatness the moment he declared intentions to go pro with Adidas back in 2016.

Most wondered how the teenager would compete among men with years of experience.

On Friday, Lyles answered all the hype with a remarkable effort in the 200m.

In his Diamond League debut, the 19-year-old ran 19.90 seconds, becoming just the fourth man to drop under 20 seconds in history. Lyles still has two months before he turns 20.

It follows his world-best performance in the 300m at the USATF Indoor Track and Field Championships in March, when Lyles ran 31.87 seconds.

What will he do next?
