The Scoop: Port Arthur Memorial Makes History

1. Port Arthur Memorial Ran A Legendary Heat of the 4x100 Relay

Port Arthur Memorial's 39.80 second time in the UIL Class 5A 4x100 relay will go down as one of the best performances of all-time.

It immediately became the second-best performance in the event and Port Arthur became just the third team ever to clock time under 40 seconds.

No high school boys relay team had been able to clock a time under 40 seconds in 16 years.

But Port Arthur, whose team was comprised of Ireon Brown, Kary Vincent, Xavier Hall and Deandre Angelle, was able to make it happen.

"What's going on in Port Arthur," a MileSplit interviewed asked afterward.

"Man, we turning up," Kary Vincent said.

If that wasn't enough, they came back and ran a US No. 2 effort in the 4x200 relay with a time of 1:23.52, which was just the seventh time a team has run under 1:24 nationally.

The groundbreaking night belonged to Port Arthur Memorial.
