9/20 High School XC Weekend Recap

PIAA Foundation XC Invitational (PA)

September 20, 2014 Hershey Parkview 5K (Poop-Out Hill Course) in Hershey, PA

Meet Record by Paul Power! 15:50!

Spring Ford's Paul Power broke the meet record at the PIAA Foundation Invite, which is the state meet course preview meet for Pennysylvania at Hershey Park. Power had a race on his hands with Kevin James of Cardinal O'Hara and Jake Brophy of Central Bucks East as all three were pushing the pace to setup sub 16 minute times. With his 15:50 win, Power should start thinking more about a Pennyslvania state title and challenging the 15:45 course record at the state meet in November. Nike Cross Nationals qualifiers one year ago, the Severna Park (MD) are not falling off the national radar this fall as they defeated a formidable Cardinal O'Hara (PA) squad for the team title by a margin of 10 points.

With her 18:18 win on Saturday, North Alleghany's Madeleine Davison now moves up to #4 all-time in the Hershey Park's course all-time list. The state of Pennsylvanis is loaded with national talent including Brianna Schwartz,  Mady Clahane, and Marissa Sheva among others, so will be interesting to see come state meet time how much faster Davison can go after winning Saturday's race by 39 seconds. The Cardinal O'Hara (PA) girls inserted 4 girls among the top 20 places overall to claim the team title.
