800 Meter Run
13 girls were under this week's 2:20.00 standard. Three girls went under 2:16. All three times came in the finals of the Louie Bing Invitational with 8th grader Shynah Collins of Dillard leading the pack. Collins won in 2:12.87. Montverde 7th grader Alexandrea Fraser was second in 2:15.01 and Dillard junior Abigail Richards was third in 2:15.01. Collins was the state leader last spring with a 2:06.51.

1600 Meter Run
In 2024, 12 girls went under 5:00 in the state. Seven of them return for the 2025 season. None of these girls has opened up this outdoor season yet. The state leader was Alyson Johnson of Creekside who ran 4:46.24. Johnson leads the indoor 1 Mile rankings with a 4:51.42.
Last week, only one girl dipped under five in week one of the outdoor season. Sophomore Daniela Hernandez of the Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart ran a 4:59.80 PR in winning the Palmer Trinity Varsity Classic Invitational.

3200 Meter Run
The East Lake Early Bird Invitational had a close 3,200m race, with sophomore Katelin Wilcox of Sunlake winning over sophomore Natalia Gaona-Zelaya of Wiregrass Ranch. Wilcox ran 11:05.78 and Gaona-Zelaya 11:07.26. Fort Myers senior Masha Dorofeev, the 3A state XC champion, won at the Dunbar Tigers Classic with a 11:07.91. Dorofeev has a PR of 10:56.68. These were the only sub-11:10.00 times of the first week.
Twelve girls ran under this week's 11:50 standard. In 2024, the state saw 26 girls go under 11:00, led by Creekside junior Alyson Johnson's 10:19. 148 girls went under 11:50. Watch for the times to drop significantly over the next few weeks.
