XC Weekend Recap: MT. SAC & Regionals Highlight the Action

Shelbyville Highlights the Indiana Regionals

---

The Shelbyville Regional concluded with standout performances from some of Indiana's best runners and tight team battles, setting the stage for an exciting state meet.

In the boys' race, Fishers' senior Sam Quagliaroli continued his dominant season, claiming the individual title with a time of 14:57.14. Although his time was slightly off his recent record-breaking performance at Noblesville, Quagliaroli left no doubt about his state title aspirations. Noblesville's John Libs finished as runner-up in 15:21.46, solidifying his status among the state's elite and leading the chase pack alongside Hamilton Southeastern's Liam Powers, who finished close behind in 15:22.19.

The team battle lived up to the hype, with #4 Noblesville edging out a strong field to secure the title with just 45 points. Noblesville's tight 1-5 split of 43 seconds and average of 15:49 played a crucial role in their victory, putting them well ahead of #5 Hamilton Southeastern, who took second with 78 points. Franklin Central claimed third with a solid performance, totaling 99 points and a 47-second split.

On the girls' side, Libby Dowty from Indian Creek asserted her dominance, winning comfortably in 17:15.75. Dowty's strong run continues her impressive season, where she has been largely unchallenged. Pendleton Heights' Ava Jarrell and freshman Anya Zoeller took second and third, respectively, with Jarrell clocking 17:34.51 and Zoeller finishing shortly after in 17:37.82, showcasing their team's strength.

Franklin Central emerged victorious in the girls' team race with 73 points, powered by a consistent pack that produced a 45-second split and an 18:54 team average. Noblesville followed with 90 points, placing second in the team standings with a 1:12 split and a 19:05 average. Both teams will move on to the state meet, where they'll be contenders among Indiana's best.

With state berths secured, these top teams and individuals are primed for the final showdown, each looking to end their season with a strong performance at the Indiana State Championships.
