Analysis: Over the last two years, the Monroe-Woodbury boys have established themselves as the kings of New York and one of the strongest groups on the Eastern Seaboard. In 2023, the Crusaders claimed their second straight NYSPHSAA title, and a week later went back-to-back at the New York State Federation Championships.
A week later, Matt Hemmer's squad put four boys inside the top 40 finishers, edging out Auburn High School 78-80. As they chase a coveted three-peat and another trip to Nike Cross Nationals, the 20th-place team from 2023's edition of NXN will have five seniors leading the way after losing just two athletes out of their top seven.
