Analysis: As we stated earlier in our breakdown of the York girls ... the Prospect girls had their state's number in 2022.
The Knights ran away with team titles at the Illinois Class 3A championships, NXR Midwest and were fifth at Nike Cross Nationals, their highest placement ever.
Four runners return from that team, including junior Veronica Znajda and sophomore Mega Peterson and senior Lily Ginsberg.
While Mt. Prospect will have to figure out its lineup in due time, they return with the nation's ninth-fastest 5K average of 18:12.06, and the fastest from Illinois.
