Analysis: It was a very successful campaign for Carroll a year ago, which finished second at the UIL Class 6A state championships, won the NXR South Region and then finished 11th at NXN.
The Dragons weren't without competition, of course. The Flower Mound girls, which won the Texas Class 6A title but fell to Southlake Carroll at regions, were constantly the thorn in this team's side. Flower Mound was the highest-placing Texas team at NXN, too, at sixth.
But Carroll was never too far behind. This season, the Carroll girls return four runners from last year's lineup, including No. 2 Sylvia Schwedler and No. 4 Elizabeth Smits. Regions was probably Carroll's top race last year, as the team put together an 18:32.8 average and defeated Lucas Lovejoy and Flower Mound by three points and 13 points, respectively.
This fall will offer the same competition. How will the Dragons respond?
