The Preseason MileSplit50 Top 25 Boys Team Rankings

No. 10: Christian Brothers Academy (NJ)

- - -

Analysis: One of the premier cross country programs in the United States should once again fight for top status in the Northeast. At least that's the way we see it.

With four returners back, including rising junior Joe Barrett, the Colts are moving more along the lines of a re-load than a re-build.

They reigned supreme in 2022, winning a host of meets and then the ones that mattered, including the NJSIAA Group Championships (Non-Public A) and the NJSIAA Meet of Champions, downing Union Catholic -- which figures to be better in 2023. All that success led to an NXR Northeast title and then an 18th-place finish at NXN.

We don't think much will change this fall. The Colts remain a talented bunch with a No. 1 (Barrett) who might elevate this season into a star. CBA should have the depth required to compete against any team it faces, and also should have the opportunity to race down the line of its roster in certain situations.

Biggest Question: Being a factor at nationals.

This is always the final question for CBA. While reaching nationals has always been strength of CBA, it's been six years since the Colts' last top 10 finish. Their most recent results include finishes of 18th (2022), 16th (2019), 18th (2018) and 7th (2017)  and 7th (2016).
