No. 10: Adam Burlison
- - -
School: Amarillo (TX)
Year: 2024
2022 Notable Finishes: 56th at NXN in 15:51.30; 1st at NXR South Regional in 15:19.60; 2nd at UIL Class 6A State Championships in 15:24.00; 1st at OSU Cowboy Jamboree in 15:28.80.
Analysis: Burlison may be at a new school this year, but he still should be the top Texan in charge in 2023. The talented cross country runner won the NXR South Regional last year in a time of 15:19.60 and followed with a 56th-place finish at NXN.
What set him up for that success, however, was a significant junior season. He won the Texas A&M Invitational in September (15:27.00), then went on to claim wins at the OSU Cowboy Jamboree in Stillwater and then at districts and regions. Burlison finished behind David Mora in a dogfight across the Texas Class 6A Championship, but he would get the last laugh in track.
Burlison won two Texas outdoor state titles in the 1,600m (4:08.64) and 3,200m (8:54.47) and finished off his year with a mile PR of 4:03.85 at the RunningLane Track Championships. A powerful runner with range, Burlison should be among the best in the country this fall.
