Performance: Koon put down a spectacular performance on Friday at the FSU Relays, nearly taking the championship boys 3,200m before finishing second overall in a U.S. No. 6 time of 8:58.30.
It was a big effort for a variety of reasons. The performance was Koon's first under nine minutes for the distance, it was the top sophomore mark of the 2022 season and it also landed at No. 15 all-time for the sophomore class.
It also currently ranks No. 2 in Florida and No. 11 all-time in the state. He's one of just 16 athletes since 2000 to go under nine minutes.
