Kelcie Simmons 100m & 200m
Leonard (Tx.) High junior Kelcie Simmons is one of the best sprinters in the state of Texas, but competes in one of the smallest classifications in 3A. That didn't stop her from posting some of the top marks in the country. In the 100m, she came into the finals with the fastest qualifying mark of the day (11.92).
She then posted the top 200m qualifying mark of 24.29. In the finals, she faced off against national champion Kaylor Harris and held her own, placing second in 11.59 (+2.8).
In the 200m, though, it was all Simmons, who took the field with a new US No. 7 mark of 24.11 (-1.4).
