Mondo Duplantis Attempts 5.82m/19-1.25

National high school record holder Armand "Mondo" Duplantis easily won the Louisiana state title on Saturday in Baton Rouge -- runner-up Cameron Reed cleared 4.48m/14-8, and Duplantis didn't even enter the competition until the bar was set at 5.18m.

The junior from Lafayette has set national records in consecutive competitions, but the streak ended on Saturday after three attempts at 5.82m/19-1.25. At 5.18m and 5.50m, he missed on the first attempt and made the second attempt. He cleared his first attempt at 5.70m/18-8.25, which would stand as the winning mark, then moved the bar past his national record of 5.75m/18-10.25 all the way up to the 19-foot barrier.
