Unranked Corning over #11 FM at Pre-State (NY)

The Corning squad outdistanced Fayetteville-Manlius by 33 points at the McDaniel-Baxter/Pre-State meet in New York. Corning's top four managed to place in the top 10 overall with their No. 5 in 21st place, while the Hornets were spread 2-12-14-20-35 in team scoring. Corning's Kevin Moshier won the individual title over FM's leader Patrick Perry, 15:41 to 15:58, in what was also a new course record.

Watch unranked Corning upset No. 11 FM:

Unranked North Central over #14 Ogden, #23 Crater; unranked Springville over #23 Crater at Bob Firman (ID)

No. 6 ranked Davis High School of Utah proved their dominance in this field by taking the 'W' with 65 points. But behind them, the standings were very close: unranked North Central (139 points), No. 14 Ogden (181 points), unranked Springville (186 points), No. 23 Crater (197 points).

North Central High School from Washington did not make NXN last year but they do have a long history of qualifying for the meet and the runner-up finish here makes them look poised to do so again. They have a 47-second spread from No. 1 to No. 5 runner, and just 17 seconds between No. 2 to No. 5.

Ogden draws its strength from a formidable top two: Garrett Barton and Travis Feeny placed second and third, respectively, though the pack drops off from there. Crater has a solid No. 1 in Andy Monroe, fifth here in 15:33, and just a 59-second spread, but the placement is too spread out for such a tight spread: 5-36-50-51-55.

Unranked Woodlands College Park over #19 St. Thomas Aquinas at Rim Rock (KS)

One year ago, St. Thomas Aquinas defeated The Woodlands College Park, 100 to 138 points, to earn the Varsity Boys Gold team title at the Rim Rock Farm Classic. This year, the Texas squad returned the favor by distancing the Kansas natives, 96 to 124. College Park's spread was 58 seconds compared to STA's 68 seconds, and the Texans squeezed their top two into the top ten though STA's top runner, Will Cole, was third overall.

Unranked Don Bosco Prep, Carlisle over #15 Downingtown West at Carlisle HS Invitational (PA)

The Puma Challenge race at the Carlisle Invitational was close: team champions Don Bosco Prep scored 111 points, while host school and runners-up Carlisle scored 141 points and Downingtown West scored 151 points. Lower Dauphin added up 168 points for fourth overall.

Downingtown West still has the tightest pack of the group with a 42-second spread, but Carlisle benefits from a strong 1-2 punch in the Affolder brothers: Noah won the race and Sam placed third overall. Don Bosco Prep placed three in top 12 to secure the win.

Roy Griak individual champion Seth Hirsch is shocked after his team's third place finish.

Unranked Millard West, Dowling Catholic, Sioux Falls Lincoln over #20 Edina at Roy Griak (MN)

The massive Roy Griak Invitational No. 9 Wayzata won with 91 points, thanks to a 53-second spread and 4-18-21-22-26 placement, while No. 18 Claremont took second with 123 points with a 54-second spread and 9-15-17-28-54 placement. Every other team in the field scored over 200 points. No. 20 Edina had a strong performance from veteran Patrick Roos in fifth place, but scored a total of 258 points to finish sixth behind Millard West (206 points), Dowling Catholic (217 points) and Sioux Falls Lincoln (234 points).
