Conor Lundy ran 8:22.06 in the 3K to set a new nation-leading time in the event and a new Yale Track Classic meet record. The Fordham Prep, New York senior had plenty of competition in the highly hyped race, as the field included several high-profile Foot Locker finalists and All-Americans in DJ Principe, Matt Bouthilette, Eric van der Els, Nick Dahl and Matt Grossman.
After passing the mile in about 4:28, the race whittled down to Principe and defending champion Lundy. Watch the race above to see the Princeton commit's killer final move!
"The goal was just to stick with the leaders and put myself in a good position with two laps to go," he said after the race.
Lundy said he plans to enter either the Mile or the Two Mile at New Balance Nationals Indoor -- or possibly both.
"Maybe even contend for a win there and [to] get a national title would be awesome," he said.
