Their #1 runner and US #2 ranked Matthew Maton still has not raced yet, but it did not stop the Summit boys from taking care of business on the Oregon state meet cross country course at Lane Community College in Eugene on Saturday for the Northwest Classic. Despite missing Maton, the Summit boys placed 5 in the top 16 places to win the meet by 60 points.
There is Ella Donaghu and then there is a gap with the next best runner from the state of Oregon. The Grant High School senior won the Northwest Classic by 77 seconds with her time of 18:02. It was a great day for the Summit program with both boys and girls squads claiming the team titles in Eugene.
