Sophie Cantine was already running incredible distance times as a middle schooler out in the state of Washington, but has continued that progression into her first year of high school. Cantine currently has the fastest 1500 (4:34.53) and 1600 (4:51.10) among all freshmen nationally after rolling a 2:47 1000 meter time indoors at the University of Washington. This past Saturday at the Pasco Invitational, Cantine won the 800 meter run in a time of 2:12.83 and might challenge a sub 2:10 before this season is over in the event.
