Quietly in the top-10 for a few weeks, Blacksburg (VA) looks poised for big things this weekend at the VA state champs.

Saucony Elite 50 Team Girls | Week 9

*Editor's Note: The Saucony Elite 50 refers to the top-50 teams in the country (25 boys and 25 girls).

In some great state championship action #1 Fayetteville-Manlius (NY) rolled over #18 Saratoga Springs with just 31 points and an 18:08 average.  Fay-Man certainly looks the part of a national contender yet again this year.  There was a great race between the top Illinois powers in 3A as #10 Glenbard West dismantled the field.  #12 Naperville North finished 2nd, #13 New Trier was 3rd and Palatine finished a distant 4th.  #16 Assumption (KY) won big in their state championship race with just 44 points.  #15 Desert Vista (AZ) took down Xavier College Prep 60-70 and finds themselves in the rankings after a very strong state meet performance.

#5 Wayzata (MN) took control of the race at the Nike Heartland Regional, winning and qualifying for the national championship for the 2nd straight year.  

#9 Blacksburg (VA) girls dominated their regional meet with just 24 points and an 18:58 average.  They have been quietly amassing impressive victories this season and look like a lock for a state title this weekend.
