No. 16: Downers Grove North (IL)
- - -
Analysis: The Downers Grove North girls cross country team had a remarkable 2023 season, marked by a second-place finish at the state meet and their first trophy since 1988. Their impressive performance extended beyond the state level, as they also secured second place at the NXR Midwest Regional and finished 16th at NXN.
Despite the challenges, including losing two of their top five runners to injury during the Naperville North Twilight Invite on October 4, the Trojans showcased their strength and resilience. Key contributors included all-state performers: sophomore Lily Eddington (10th), senior Sarah Paul (13th), and juniors Alayna Todnem (14th) and Ava Gilley (24th). With these strong runners returning, Downers Grove North is poised for another competitive and successful season in 2024.
