Ole Miss's distance program ranks among the top in the NCAA as Coach Ryan Vanhoy, who is in his fourth season with the program, has transformed this squad into a force to reckon with.
Under his short time with the Ole Miss team, he has taken the men's program from a 30th place finish at the NCAA National Cross Country Championships in 2015 to a fourth place, a podium finish in 2016.
Vanhoy has coached some of the best the NCAA:
Ryan Walling- was named co-winner of the Cliff Harper Trophy, an award given to the athlete who receives the most points in the SEC meet.
Craig Engels- finished 4th in the 800m in 1:46.03 and 5th in the 1500m in 3:37.66 at the USA Olympic Trials just missing Team USA in not one but two events.
MJ Erb- run a 8:37 in the steeple chase to qualify for the USA Olympic Trials Finals. He also earned All-American honors as he finished 6th in the country at the NCAA Divison 1 Cross Country Championships.
Above are just a few of the elite athletes who rose to the top while at Ole Miss and with a solid recruiting class coming in thing looks good for Rebels in the future.
