The Battle for the Ugly Jug at Newton Falls Tiger Stadium, Thursday, May 1, 2025

Coaches: The goal is to have a unique meet the kids will enjoy and talk about as adults. This meet has handmade clay trophies, all Mixed-Gender relays, the 5000m, a throwers-only Mixed Gender Iron Relay who will carry an XL pizza box as the batons, with the winning relay team splitting a pepperoni pizza. I hope you agree this could be a fun meet for all.

ALL RELAYS are Mixed/Co-Ed: #1 and #2 are girls,  #3 and #4 are boys. We have OHSAA approval. POINTS EARNED WILL BE EVENLY SPLIT BETWEEN THE BOYS AND GIRLS TEAMS -->Girls and Boys 5000m... (one coach per team report to FL to help count the 12 laps ) 

ADMISSION:  $7 at the Gate. $5 students       

TEAM FEES: $90 per team, $180 FOR BOTH TEAMS, or $20 per individual  

MILESPLIT:   CLOSES WED April 30th noon  -  SCRATCHES/SUBSTITUTIONS BY 4:15pm day of meet

BUS DROPOFF AND PARKING Drop off at football stadium, then park at K-5 school to the east

CHECK-IN RUNNING EVENTS: behind the 100m start except 200 and 300H

FAT Timing          SCORING: 8 schools.....10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1 for all events and relays

Pole Vault will not be contested at this meet

SHOT PUT ATHLETES:We have a small area unfortunately, one that cannot hold more than a flight at a time. Once a flight is over, we would ask those coaches and athletes to PLEASE EXIT THE IMMEDIATE AREA 

THROWS WARM-UPS: Get your work done quickly so that ALL FLIGHTS have the same time to warm up

Athletes: No electronic devices inside the fences           1/4 spike limits on shoes/starting blocks 

Coaching Areas will be marked: Athletes not in the event should not be in these areas

  • BOYS SHOT PUT FINALS 2/2 throws)

  • GIRLS DISCUS FINALS (2/2 throws)

  • BOYS HIGH JUMP FINALS starting heights:     Boys 4-6   Girls 4-0       heights will be moved up 2  until boys 5-5-8  +  until girls 4-8, then will be moved up 1"

  • OPEN PIT LONG JUMP boys and girls (4 jumps)     The pit closes at 6:00

4:40 Running Events begin (all finals)

  • 4x800m MIXED RELAY (girls team and boys team evenly split the points)

  • 100/110m HURDLES  girls yellow marks 33 followed by boys blue marks 39

  • 100m DASH girls followed by boys

  • 4x200m MIXED RELAY then 10 min break (girls team + boys team evenly split the pts)

  • 1600m girls followed by boys 

  • 4x100m MIXED RELAY then 10 min break (girls team + boys team evenly split the pts)

  • 400m girls followed by boys

  • 300m HURDLES girls followed by boys  girls 33    boys 39

  • 800m girls followed by boys

  • 200m girls followed by boys

  • 5000m combined (will need one coach per school to help us to verify laps ran for their athletes)

  • 4x400m MIXED RELAY(girls team + boys team evenly split the pts)

  • Throwers 4x100m MIXED RELAY (split pts)(scored as a field event)

After the Conclusion: Presentation of Trophy Ugly Jugs
