When I found out I qualified to footlocker nationals, along with Steven Cross, I couldn't believe I was going to fly out of Florida again for a second time to get the chance to meet professional athletes and race amongst the top high school athletes in our nation. Coming from Nike Nationals last year, I had a lot of expectations of Foot Locker and I couldn't wait to see what they had in store for everyone.

Hey Flrunners, I just wanted to share with you a little bit of my experience out at footlocker, due to how phenomenal it was. Getting off the plane in San Diego they had me feeling like a professional athlete from the start. Being escorted from the terminal to a charter bus to take us to Hotel Del Coronado just made me feel special. Looking up at the massive hotel, and walking in to receive a bag-full of 'goodies', so we could properly represent Asics, made me at a loss for words. This was just the first hour in San Diego, we had two and half days of this.

Miami Sunset senior Nick Diaz and Merritt Island junior Steven Cross continued the tradition of Floridians at Foot Locker Nationals. On the eve, of arguably the toughest race of their high school careers, MileSplit's Jimmy Stevenson talks with Merritt Island's Steven Cross and Miami Sunset's Nick Diaz. The two are members of the forty runner field for the 2014 Foot Locker National Championships in San Diego. Cross and Diaz advanced out of the Foot Locker South Regional after finishing 8th and 9th respectively in personal best times of 15:01.

Steven Cross had a spectacular junior season finishing first or second in all of his in-state races. The Merritt Island standout was second at the 3A Cross Country Finals and continued his season at the Foot Locker South Regional where he ran a new personal best time of 15:01 and finished 8th to advance to this weekend's Foot Locker Nationals.
