In one of the most exciting races of the day, Andrew Jackson took the 4x400m relay in 3:17.52. Cardinal Newman had a slight lead with around 20m to go, and the Andrew Jackson Anchor attempted to pass at first on the outside and then shifted to lane one as the Newman anchor had moved to lane 2. The Newman anchor and the Jackson anchor hit arms, and the Jackson anchor almost went off the track. The officials determined that the Newman anchor had interfered with the Jackson anchor, and the Newman boys were DQ'd.
