In her first 400m of the 2025 season, the Polytechnic School (Calif.) junior, Mariana Gomez, solidified herself as the top improver in the nation this season. Gomez ran 1:02.58, more than enough to take off 18 seconds from her fastest mark a year ago.

Buford (Ga.) sophomore Olivia Harris Buford ran 52.53 a few weeks ago to take over the top spot on the national leaderboard, but just barely came up short of surpassing her PB of 52.53.
