He did it!
With the weight of an entire state on his shoulders, Tommy Latham became the first Georgia athlete to break the 4:00 barrier for a mile.
It was an incredible atmosphere at the Marist Mile and of course, they saved the best for last. Just like Tommy, who had to kick hard on the final lap to accomplish this feat. It was an incredible showing from the senior who has done all he can in this sport. Surrounded by a huge crowd of fans, friends, classmates, family, and more, Tommy did what everybody hoped he would.
I think I'll just keep this one simple tonight and say that it was impressive to see something so difficult done in a solo effort like that. Congratulations Tommy, you earned it.
