We're on to day 2 of 3 of adidas Indoor Track Nationals weekend as the middle and high school indoor track & field season comes to a conclusion!  Athletes from all over the United States and Canada head to the Virginia Beach Sports Center in what will be some incredible action over Friday through Sunday!

Four divisions will compete with Championship being the top division, followed by National Elite, Freshman and Middle School divisions.

Boys Championship 4x200m

Bullis boys were just off the National Record yesterday set by Archbishop Carroll this year at 1:24.37 and ran 1:24.64 in the prelims.  They'd have a more competitive final heat today but were heavy favorites.  They'd run just off their mark from yesterday running 1:24.66 to take the win and remain at US#2 All-Time.

Girls Championship 4x200m

Bullis girls set a new National Record yesterday in the Prelims of 1:34.31.  They came back to take the track for the finals and were able to better their mark to 1:34.26 to secure the National Championship alongside the National Record!

Boys Championship 800m

It was a two heat final and the first section threw down.  Caleb Ten Pas (Des Moines Christian, IA) and Kyle Barney (Marvin Ridge, NC) battled going through 400m in 54.69 as Ten Pas led.  They'd battle for the final 400m as Ten Pas held off Barney running 1:51.84 and 1:52.05 respectively both breaking the meet record of 1:52.51 by Austin Klingler (UT) in 2021.  Will Cuicchi (Seaforth) would lead the majority of the fast section and hold off a late charge from Jayden Curry (Bruton, VA) and run 1:52.61 which would be good for third overall.

Girls Championship 800m

Carter Torrence (Formula TC, VA) ran a big 800m personal best last weekend running 2:12.30 at New Balance Nationals.  She wasn't satisfied with that and ran another big PR to clock a 2:09.67 to win the 800m at adidas to put herself on the map as one of the top 800m runners in the country as a junior.

Boys 220m Shuttle Hurdle Relay

Peninsula Elite (VA) brought home the title on the boys side running 29.82 in a battle against Notre Dame HS (NJ) who ran 30.66.

Girls 220m Shuttle Hurdle Relay

Four legs over the 60m Hurdles is a unique and fun event rarely run indoors, but Track757 ran a 33.41 to win.  434 Track & Field Club ran 34.63 in the heat prior to finish 2nd with Peninsula Elite TC in 3rd.

Boys Freshman 200m Dash

Sebastian Gizzi (Cooper Track Stars, GA) ran 22.64 to win the fastest seeded section.  Nasir Diggs (Collegiate, VA) and Ephraim Teah (Classical, RI) set the tone in the heat before running 22.89 and 22.97 for the fastest two marks which held for 2nd and 3rd.

Girls Freshman 200m Dash

Ally Brediger (Oberlin Spikes, OH) finalized her sweep of the freshman sprint events running 24.67 to beat DaQuana Howell (Spire Academy, OH) in Heat 11 of 11 who ran 25.31 for 2nd.

Boys Middle School 200m Finals

Landan Holmes (Elite Speed, SC) won the Middle School 200m in 23.23 out of Heat 9.  There were four heats to follow and Eli Simmons (Riverdale Baptist, MD) and David Ainerua (Virginia Pride, TC) would challenge in heats 12 and 12 running 23.35 and 23.71 respectively, but Holmes mark would hold on for the win.

Girls Middle School 200m Finals

Imani Moore (Varina, VA) took home her third win of the day running 24.73 for the 200m.  She won the Long Jump and 60m Dash earlier today.  Her mark breaks Chayse Madison-Haire's meet record of 25.03 from last year.

Freshman Boys 1 Mile Run

Charles Stone (Homewood, AL) won the Freshman boys Mile in 4:29.07 ahead of Steven Lundin (Corel Reef, FL) and Anthony Shoaf (London, OH).  The group went through 809m in 2:15.31 led by Stone who was able to pull away from the field over the next lap and hold on for the win. 

Freshman Girls 1 Mile Run

Reagan Clifton (Croatan, NC) took the freshman girls win in 5:18.49 sitting in the lead group running 2:40.25 for the first 809m and pulling away from the field by 5 seconds over the final 800m.  Helena Georgiou (Team Ontario, CAN) finished just ahead of Hayley Mancini (Valley Blaze, VA) for 2nd in 5:23.58.

Middle School Boys 1 Mile

Derek Locktish (Bulleye Running) adds his second win of the weekend taking the Middle School Mile in a tight race with Chance Anderson (TX) doubling back from a 400m win earlier today.  Locktish took the win in 4:36.24 with Anderson just on his heels in 4:36.40.  The two battled throughout as Anderson took them through 809m in 2:21.51.  At 400m to go Locktish took the lead and were back and forth the final two laps.  Locktish closed in 61 seconds for the final 400m to secure the big win.  

Middle School Girls 1 Mile

Madison Lange (Elevated Distance Training, CO) and Sawyer Nicholson (Team Ontario, Niagara Falls) had a rematch from yesterday's 1-2 2 Mile finish where they ran 10:42.07 and 10:48.07 respectively.  Lange would let them through just over halfway (809m) in 2:29.31, on pace for a sub-5 Mile.  She'd begin to pull ahead of Nicholson approaching the final 400m and would take the win for the Mile in 5:04.11 with Nicholson taking 2nd in 5:08.59 ahead of Libby Marteeny (PA) 

Boys Championship 400m Finals

Andrew Salvodon (Bayside, VA) ran 47.24 to win the Championship 400m.  Salvodon is the National Record holder over 500m and got out in a controlled 23.03 through the first 200m.  Salvodon rolled the final 400m in 24.21 to win by nearly two seconds ahead of Kelechi Anyanwu (Xceleration Nation TC, MD) and Julius Kinsler (West Windsor Plainsboro South, NJ) who battled in Heat 5 of 10 running 49.10 and 49.42 to finish 2nd and 3rd.

Girls Championship 400m Finals

Natalie Dumas (Eastern Regional HS, NJ) won the Girls 400m by exactly 1 second running 53.66 just off her 53.55 seasons best from New Jersey MOC.  The junior had the fastest first 200m in the field getting around in 24.60 with Kadia Rock (Spire Academy, OH) just behind at 25.07.  Dumas would be able to extend her lead over the lap to set a new adidas Indoor Track Nationals meet record.

Boys Weight Throw Championship

Shamrock Thoun (Woonsocket, RI) blew away the competition throwing 79-11.75 with his best throw being his final.  He improved from 79-9.25 to 79-11.75 on his sixth attempt and landed 5 throws over 77-7.  While only a junior, this gives Thoun the triple crown of indoor nationals meets after winning New Balance and Nike Indoor Nationals last weekend.

Boys 400m National Elite

After 28 heats of National Elite 400s the Champion, Isaiah Perry (CMIT Academy, MD) came from Heat 5 with a mark of 49.44.  He and Dmarcus Lewis (BrookLane Striders, MD) set the tone early both breaking 50 seconds in Heat 5 which stood overall for first and fourth respectively.  Marquis Mebane (Speed Unlimited, GA) was just .07 seconds off in Heat 27 of 28 running 49.51 to hold for 2nd overall with Nicholas Bouril (VA) running 49.66 out of Heat 23.  

Girls 400m National Elite

Jaiya Patillo (Bellevue West, NE) ran a 55.69 to win the National Elite 400m.  She got to the break first and led through 200m in 25.67 far ahead of the fast heat and held on to close in 30.03 despite Mya Harris (Leander Spartans TC) slightly closing the distance over the final 200m.

Girls 400m Freshman Finals

Ally Brediger (Oberlin Spikes, OH) continues he Freshman success after winning the 60m Dash earlier today.  She won the 400m in 57.84.  Mafata Kourouma (Harlem's Children Zone TC, NY) set the time to beat in heat 5 of 6 of 58.70.  Brediger was out through 200m behind what Kourouma went through by .5 seconds, but closed hard to better her mark with a 30.39 final 200m.

Boys 400m Freshman Finals

Maxwell Manning (Houston, TN) and Joey Wynn (Charlotte Christian, NC) had an incredible battle that came down to .01 seconds for the Freshman title!  The time to beat was 51.05 by Malcolm Brown (MJM Elite).  Wynn got to the break first in 23.79 with Manning back in third.  Maxwell would roll the final 200m just nipping Wynn at the lin in 50.07 to 50.08!

Boys Middle School 400m

Chance Anderson (TX) won the 800m yesterday and doubled back to win the 400m in 51.65, over a second better than the rest of the field.  Chase Elliott (Southern Sprinters) would be first to the break by a half second ahead of Anderson, but Anderson would fight past him over the final 200m to get his second win of the weekend.

Boys Middle School Pole Vault

Arun Mead (Xtreme Heights PV, VA), just a 6th grader, was able to win in a tiebreak at 9-6 over Maximus Turner (MD) with both boys missing out at 9-6.  Mead would have one miss at 9-6 where Turner missed twice and cleared on his final attempt.  Both boys missed out at the next attempt at 10-0.

Boys Middle School Long Jump

Blake Rankin (True Runners, NC) was able to better his 2nd place finish in the 60m Hurdle Finals by winning the Long Jump in 19-2.5.  Bobby Roundtree (Riverdale Baptist) held the lead through 5 attempts jumping 19-0.5 on his second attempt of the competition.  Rankin sat in 2nd overall going into his final jump at 18-9 and was able to get the job done on his final jump for the win.

Girls Middle School Long Jump

Imani Moore (Varina, VA) was able to manage winning the Long Jump alongside her MS 60m win at the same time jumping 17-1.75.  Moore would hold a narrow lead of 16-9.5 over Aaliyah Thornton (GT Academy, VA) who jumped 16-7.75 on her fifth attempt.  Moore would improve her winning mark on her final jump.

Girls Championship Weight Throw

Meagan Ewers (Medgar Evers College Prep, NY) was just off her personal best of 59-4.25 in the Weight Throw winning in 58-10.25.  Ewers held a best of 56-11 sitting in first place going into her final attempt, but would have her best throw of the day to improve her winning mark.  Gifty Bediako (Classical, RI) would throw 55-1.25 for 2nd with Natalie Brown (Weddington, NC) throwing 52-0.25 for third.

Girls Middle School 400m Finals

Lauren Uhle (Dale City Lightning, VA) ran 58.80 to win the Middle School 400m.  Morgan Kent (HR Hurricanes, OR), a sixth grader, set the time to beat in heat 8 or 9 running 59.04.  Uhle would get out hard in 27.31 for the first 200m and was able to hold on through the line to narrowly surpass Kent's 2nd place mark from the heat before.

Boys Championship 2 Mile

James Callahan (Cary Christian, NC) set a new personal best and broke Sam Rich's Meet Record from 2021 of 8:58.15.  Callahan went through the Mile in 4:28 alongside Samuel Darmanie (Springboro, OH) and Caleb Tenney (St. Vincent Pallotti, MD) before pulling away over the final Mile to win in 8:55.94.  His previous 3200m personal best was 9:02 as he cut 10 seconds off that mark with the 2 Mile to 3200m conversion today.  Tenney would pull ahead of Darmanie, but Darmanie closed fast to just pass Tenney at the line as both ran 9:09 for 2nd and 3rd.

Girls Championship 2 Mile

Georgy Helmers (EE Smith, NC) won a battle with Jordyn Brown (Indianola HS, IA) to win in 10:47.64.  The two would be joined by two others going through the One Mile in 5:28 before the two broke away over the final mile as Helmers negative split with a 5:21 final 2 Mile with Brown finishing in 10:47.

Boys National Elite 2 Mile

Jaleb Sounders (Blazin Raiders, MD) ran a 9:24.85 to win the Boys National Elite 2 Mile by 5 second over Addison Brooks (Mt. Vernon TC).  Brooks held a two second lead through 1 Mile with Sounders two seconds back.  Sounders would make a pass 600m later and slowly pull away for the win. 

Girls National Elite 2 Mile

Summer Muxlow (North Hall, GA), just a freshman, won the National Elite 2 Mile in 11:14.61.  She went through the first Mile in 5:38 with Kate Meinke (Riverside Running Club, OH), Kaleigh Podkowka (Patriot, VA), and Teagan Walker (Train Fast Athletics, NJ) before putting 6 seconds on the field to close in 5:36 for her final Mile.  Meinke held off Podkowka for 2nd with both running 11:20.

Boys Freshman 60m Dash Finals

Conner Sherman (LaSalle, OH) was just off Austin Stinson (Intensity Athletics) meet record of 7.05 from last year running 7.07 in yesterday's prelims.  Today, he was able to match it and take home the win officially tying the meet record at 7.05.

Girls Freshman 60m Dash Finals

Ally Brediger (Oberlin Spikes, OH) set a new Meet Record in prelims yesterday running 7.55 breaking Destini Gatling's (GT Academy, VA) record set last year of 7.66.  She added a Freshman National Championship alongside that Meet Record today running 7.61 to run away with the win in the Finals.

Boys Middle School 60m Dash Finals

Eli Simmons (Riverdale Baptist, MD) took home a .01 second victory over Landon Holmes (Elite Speed) running 7.25 and 7.26 for the top two spots.  They were side by side throughout the event with Simmons taking the narrow victory. 

Girls Middle School 60m Dash Finals

Imani Moore (Varina, VA) pulled away from a strong Middle School girls 60m Final running 7.70 to win by .11 seconds.  Moore bettered her prelim mark from yesterday where she ran 7.72 to be the top qualifier advancing to today's finals.  Christiane Sherdon-Tsana (The Heat Track Club) ran 7.81 to finish second ahead of Tiyahna Heru (VictoryLap) who was third at 7.86.

Boys Freshman 60m Hurdle Finals

Tiaan Vosloo (Ooltewah, TN) won a tight four man battle in the Freshman Boys 60m Hurdles.  Vosloo finished just ahead of Chanon Palmer (Ann Arbor TC, MI) and Carter Hoyle (Cleveland, TN) running 8.59 with Palmer and Hoyle just behind tied at 8.62 and Palmer being just .007 ahead of Hoyle for 2nd.  Kamauriyen Bush (Corvian Community School, NC) ran 8.65 to finish fourth.

Girls Freshman 60m Hurdle Finals

Kaili Payne (Cummings/Durham Striders, NC) set a new Freshman Meet Record in the 60m Hurdles running 8.93.  She broke Makenna Barnett's record of 8.99, who was the NCHSAA 4A 55m Hurdle State Champion this indoor season, from 2022.  Payne was able to pull away from Mariana Askew (Corvian Community School, NC) and Caitlin Lindo (Indian Land/Elite TFT, SC) who ran 9.13 and 9.18 for second and third respectively.

Boys Middle School 60m Hurdle Finals

Michael Mckenzie II (South Baton Rouge Jaguars TC) set a new Meet Record in the Middle School 60m Dash Finals.  Mckenzie showed out on day 1 where he first broke the meet record held by Chanon Palmer (Ann Arbor TC) from last year of 8.76 running 8.65.  Mckenzie flew out of the blocks today to drastically drop that mark to 8.48.  Blake Rankin (True Runners) was just off the previous meet record in 2nd running 8.77 in today's final.

Girls Middle School 60m Hurdle Finals

Khamya Rhines (Hampton City Athletics TC, VA), just a seventh grader, won the Middle School girls 60m Hurdle Finals running 9.55 just ahead of Aaliyah Thornton (GT Academy, VA) in 9.55 to 9.57.  Rhines was the top qualifier from the prelims just ahead of Thornton in 9.53 to 9.56 competing in separate heats.  The matchup lived up to the hype in the Finals with it being neck and neck the whole way until Rhines had the slight advantage as they crossed the line.
