Being the fastest 4x100 relay in Texas is a rite of passage for sprint teams in Texas high school track and field. it is usually reserved for the end of the year with the UIL state track and field meet being the initiation ceremony. However, for the Lancaster Lady Tigers, the milestone is potentially closer than the typical crowning moment.
Coach Lakeidra Hayes and her 4x100 quartet of Datavia Hunter, Lily Pierrot, Milan Lathan, and Saniyah Miller are in rare air when it comes to what they've been able to produce. The squad has already run themselves to be second fastest girls team in Texas history.
With three sub 45-second races this year of 44.58, 44.77, and 44.84 this season, they join the 2019 DeSoto squad as the only two teams in the country who has ever accomplished that. That DeSoto squad holds both the national and Texas state records and they're one of only two teams nationally to have ever run faster than Lancaster with their 44.24 and 44.44, and 44.65 runs in 2019.

As far as Texas history, Lancaster ranks No. 2 team all-time with the third, eighth, and ninth fastest times ever in Texas. With the 2025 season in North Texas not even seeing track meet with temperatures of over 85-degrees, Lancaster has been able to do some unthinkable and never-seen-before things.
Who runs sub 45-seconds in February and March? Literally, nobody ever has until this year.
Of the Texas teams to run sub 45-seconds, with the exception of two times, it hasn't been done outside of Austin, Texas at the state meet. Two of DeSoto's three came at the Region 1-6A region prelims and finals. Their national record run was at the state meet along with all of the other teams sub 45s.
Nationally, it has only been accomplished earlier than May and June when Long Beach Poly (CA) did in in April of 2004 at the Penn Relays and on April 1, 2023 when Bullis (MD) did it at the Florida Relays.
Lancaster has been destroying the history books since the beginning of the season with their 44.84 on February 15th, their 44.48 run on March 1st, and when they added a 44.77 last week on March 7th. The rest of the season is a clean piece of paper for them with the best part of the season and better sprinting weather conditions expected.
A girls high school team running under 45-seconds has only been done 19 times in history before Lancaster adding three to bring the total to 22 occurrence. As few times as that has been, it would more of a surprise to not see them run more 44-second races this season. It also makes it seem likely there is potential for a new state and national record in the near future.
