Brayden Williams Make Sprint History in Texas
---
Duncanville senior Brayden Williams delivered one of the most electrifying performances of the season at the Texas A&M Bluebonnet High School Invitational, blazing to a wind-aided 9.99 (+2.6) in the 100m final. His blistering time ties him for the fourth-fastest all-conditions mark in U.S. high school history, joining Trayvon Bromell (2013) on the prestigious list. Only Issam Asinga (9.83, 2023), Christian Miller (9.93, 2024), and Matthew Boling (9.98, 2019) have ever run faster under any conditions.

Williams, a Georgia commit, had already established himself as a top contender after running 10.49 in the prelims, comfortably securing his spot in the final alongside his Duncanville teammate Jayden Finley (10.53). But when it mattered most, Williams was simply untouchable. His near-flawless execution through the drive and acceleration phases put him in command early, and he never relinquished his lead, crossing the line well ahead of a stacked field.
The final featured a mix of elite sprinters and standout football players, including Dickinson's Richard Lee, who took second in 10.22, and C.E. King freshman Dillon Mitchell, who placed third in 10.29 after his record-breaking 10.35 in the prelims. Justin Stewart (10.30), Myson Johnson-Cook (10.33), and Abraham Olufemi-Dada (10.41) rounded out a final that saw six athletes break 10.50.
Williams' 9.99 not only solidifies him as one of the nation's premier sprinters but also cements his name among the all-time greats. With his combination of speed and power, he's poised for an explosive senior season, both on the track and the football field.
