The NJSIAA State Indoor Track and Field Championships showcased a thrilling display of talent as high school athletes took to the track, competing against the best in the state. From record-setting performances to thrilling races, this year's championships highlighted the skill and determination of New Jersey's finest. Here's a look at some of the standout performances from both the boys' and girls' competitions.
Boys' Highlights
Cole Isaac Cramer continued his undefeated streak in the 55m dash, running a remarkable time of 6.32 seconds in both the finals and prelims, earning him the U.S. #8 ranking for the season. His consistency and speed solidified his status as one of the top sprinters in the nation.
In the high jump, Jayden DeLeon and David Brown both impressed with their performances. DeLeon cleared an impressive height of 6' 10.25", earning him the U.S. #5 ranking, while Brown followed closely behind with a mark of 6' 10", good for U.S. #6.
Peter Donini also made headlines by setting a U.S. #9 mark in the shot put with a throw of 64' 2.5". His achievement places him among just ten boys nationally to surpass the 64-foot mark this season.
Marquis Taylor shone brightly in the Group 1 championships, claiming victory in both the 55m dash and the 400m dash with times of 6.46 seconds and 50.91 seconds, respectively. Meanwhile, Luke Pash comfortably won the Group 1 titles in the 1600m and 3200m, finishing with impressive times of 4:15.51 and 9:17.64.
Girls' Highlights
On the girls' side, Nester Wea had a standout performance, winning Group 2 state titles in the 55m dash, 400m dash, and 55m hurdles with impressive times of 7.14 seconds, 56.32 seconds, and 8.33 seconds, respectively.
Leah Starkey emerged as a rising star, running a phenomenal time of 10:32.62 in the 3200m, which ranks as the U.S. #1 time for her freshman class this indoor season and places her 10th nationally overall. Also excelling in the distance events was Delana Einreinhofer who made her mark by winning the Group 4 titles in both the 1600m and 3200m with times of 5:00.86 and 10:39.46, respectively. Liliah Gordon also had a remarkable day, winning the 1600m and 3200m titles for Group 3 with times of 4:53.69 and 10:37.86, the latter of which ranks her 15th nationally this season.
Sianni Wynn excelled in the Group 3 championships, winning both the 55m dash and the 400m dash with times of 6.84 seconds and 56.06 seconds. Not far behind in the 55m dash was Ryan Jennings who clocked in with a U.S. #9 time of 6.90 seconds. Wynn's current ranking stands at U.S. #5 with her best time of 6.83 seconds.
In the high jump, Egypt Bolan tied the U.S. #3 mark with a leap of 5' 8", showcasing her remarkable athleticism. Hannah Byrd-Leitner tied the U.S. #11 mark in the pole vault, clearing a height of 13 feet, while Julia Santos set the U.S. #11 mark in the shot put with a throw of 46' 7".
Jenna Monaco dominated the sprints, winning the 55m dash and 55m hurdles titles with times of 7.37 seconds and 8.25 seconds, and added the pole vault title with a height of 11 feet.
Union Catholic's Taylor Aska claimed the Non-Public A titles in both the 55m and 400m events, finishing with times of 6.96 seconds and 55.78 seconds. Teammate Paige Sheppard excelled in the distance events, winning the 800m and 1600m titles with times of 2:08.29 and 4:54.43, respectively.
Finally, Maggie Boler shone in the Non-Public B championships, capturing titles in the 800m and 1600m with times of 2:18.91 and 5:13.35.
