Updated Standards (And Super) Released For 2025 Spring Track

It may be heading into Championship Season for Indoor Track, but Spring Track is just around the corner. Just like there are major changes in the way the Indoor State Meet is held, Outdoor is set for change as well. New York has now moved to a three Class system, and with such moves, brings a larger amount of participants into the event. At the same time, standards have been tightened up with one key grammatical change.

In the past, standards were based on the finish placement at the prior State Meets, typically a 5-year average. Many times, after numerous rounds, and multiple events, the latter events would see times well below the top-end capabilities of those athletes, mainly due to fatigue. Now, those standards are based on the seeds (aka Season Bests) of those competitors, allowing for the fatigue factor to not come into play. For the sprints, which see three rounds, that drop is most evident. In the Boys 100m, the old standard was 11.11, with an 11.00 Super. That's down to 10.78 and 10.74 respectively, at the highest Class.

The 2025 New York State Meet is set for Middletown. 2027 will return to CNS, with Icahn Stadium hosting its' first ever State Meet in 2028. Icahn couldn't host 2026 due to a conflict with the incoming Soccer World Cup, while CNS is still under construction. A 2026 host search is still under way.

Lastly, as was implemented last year, all running marks must be FAT, but have dropped the five team requirement. Meaning FAT Dual Meets are capable of counting as a Standard, for Track Events only. Field must still come from an invitational, manned by a certified official.
