A busy weekend from the bright lights of New York City to highly competitive meets in Knoxville, Tennessee brought us plenty of notable performances from athletes around the country.

The National Performer of the Week poll will close at 5 p.m. CT on Thursday, January 9, and the winner will be announced shortly after.

Take a look at five of the top-performing boys from last weekend.

This Week's Nominees:

Caleb Winders, Bloomington North (Ind.): What better way to start the new year than with a pair of new PBs? Winders clocked 4:19.91 and 1:53.02 as he won both the 1600m and 800m at the KYA HS Indoor Classic. Winders won by a healthy margin in both events, putting himself at No. 15 and No. 1 in both events nationwide, respectively.

Tonovila Hicks, Springside Chestnut Hill Academy (Pa.): The Wisconsin Badger coaching staff has plenty of reasons to be excited about the incoming freshman, especially after he ran 22.27 and 7.84 in the 200m and 60mH at the La Salle Winter Series. Hicks won his fourth straight race in the 60mH while finishing fourth in the 200m. Hicks now sits No. 7 in state history in the 60mH.

Jeremiah Patton, Youth Track of Memphis (Tenn.): In his second meet of his senior season, Patton won the 60m and finished 16th in the 400m at the KYA HS Indoor Classic. Patton won both rounds of the 60m in 6.89, following that up by clocking 6.76 in the final, his lifetime best. Patton's quick time was just enough to break the 14-year-old state record of 6.79, bumping Christian Academy of Knoxville's Justin Emerson off of the top of the all-time lists.

Jordaine Johnson, East Orange Campus (N.J.): The senior took on the 200m/400m at The Armory Hispanic Games and had a successful day as he won both, clocking 21.36 and 47.29 (PB). His 400m performance sets him apart from the bulk of his competition, sitting at No. 2 in the nation and one of just three boys to dip below 48.0. Johnson also sits atop the national leaderboard in the 200m with a time of 21.09.

Marshall Vernon, La Salle Academy (R.I.): While the bulk of New York was getting ready for the impending arrival of Winter Storm Blair, the junior was tearing up the track at The Armory. In the 1500m at The Armory Hispanic Games, Vernon clocked 3:58.02 in his win, winning by less than half of a second over the field. Vernon ranks No. 1 in the event so far this season, and No. 6 in state history.
