Breakdown: Quincy Wilson made history at the 2024 Summer Olympics as the youngest track and field Olympic gold medalist in history. Competing in the heats of the 4x400m relay on August 9, Wilson ran the leadoff leg with a split of 47.27, handing off in seventh place. Despite his split being off his personal best, Team USA advanced to the final with a time of 2:59.15, finishing behind Great Britain and Botswana. In the final on August 10, a dominant performance by Christopher Bailey, Vernon Norwood, Bryce Deadmon, and Rai Benjamin secured gold for the U.S. in an Olympic record time of 2:54.43. Wilson's contribution in the heats earned him a share of the victory and solidified his place in Olympic history.

August 3rd:
Ruel Newberry of Denton shattered the AAU national record in the 3,000 meters at the AAU Junior Olympic Games, winning with a time of 8:34.83 at Truist Stadium. His performance was 57 seconds faster than the next competitor and just 15 seconds off the age group world record. Newberry also set a new eighth-grade class record, surpassing the previous mark of 8:35.35 set in 2023. Continue reading...
