1. Quincy Wilson, Bullis School (Va.)
Wilson, a junior at Bullis School in Maryland, is quickly emerging as not only one of the top young talents in American track and field but as one of the top talents in the world. In 2024, he set both the indoor and outdoor under-18 world records in the 400 meters, clocking times of 45.13 seconds outdoors and 45.72 seconds indoors, while also claiming the American high school record in the event. These remarkable performances have solidified his reputation as one of the most exciting and promising athletes in the sport, with a future full of potential. His dominance in the 400 meters has earned him recognition on the global stage, making him a name to watch in the years ahead.
At just 16 years old, Wilson made history by qualifying for the U.S. Olympic men's 4x400m relay pool for the 2024 Summer Olympics, becoming the youngest American male track and field Olympian in history. Team USA went on to win gold in the 4x400m relay, and although Wilson raced only in the heats, he earned a gold medal by extension, making him the youngest Olympic track and field gold medalist in history. With his combination of incredible speed, technical skill, and maturity beyond his years, Wilson is poised to be a dominant force in track and field for years to come, with the potential to achieve even greater feats as his career progresses.
2. Jayden Horton-Mims, Imhotep Institute Charter (Penn.)
Jayden Horton-Mims, a standout sprinter from Pennsylvania, has proven himself to be one of the top talents in high school track and field. He is the Pennsylvania state champion in both the 200m and 400m for outdoor track, as well as the 400m indoor champion. Horton-Mims made a major impact during the 2024 indoor season, winning the Nike Indoor Nationals 400m title with a time of 46.85 seconds and finishing second in the 200m with a time of 21.28 seconds. He also claimed the 200m title at the Ocean Breeze Invitational with a blistering time of 21.20 seconds.
Last season, Horton-Mims ranked #2 nationally in the 400m, #9 in the 200m, and #2 in the 300m. He is now the #2 400m returner, the #1 300m returner, and the #6 200m returner nationally for indoor track. With his combination of speed, consistency, and big-meet performances, Horton-Mims is poised for another dominant season and is a serious contender for even greater success as he continues to develop.
3. Jake Odey-Jordan, Archbishop Carroll (D.C.)
Jake-Odey Jordan has emerged as one of the top young sprinters in the nation, with a breakout indoor season that has put him on the map as a force to be reckoned with. At New Balance Nationals Indoor, the sophomore star made history by winning the 200m in 20.66 seconds, setting a new national sophomore record and surpassing the previous mark held by fellow Class of 2026 standout Quincy Wilson. In addition to his 200m success, Odey-Jordan finished eighth in the 60m at NBNI with a time of 6.88 seconds, after running a personal best of 6.79 seconds in the preliminaries, ranking him among the top sophomores in the country.
Odey-Jordan's impressive performances continued at adidas Track Nationals, where he split 20.42 seconds on the second leg of his team's national-record-setting 4x200m relay, finishing with a time of 1:25.36. He also helped Archbishop Carroll win the 4x200m relay at New Balance Nationals Outdoor, where he ran a personal-best 20.55 in the 200m, tying for the U.S. No. 3 time of the year. In the 100m, Odey-Jordan ran a wind-legal personal best of 10.38 in the first round, though he opted out of the finals. With his national record, personal bests, and relay success, Odey-Jordan is quickly becoming one of the most exciting young sprinters in the country. As he heads into the indoor season, he will look to build on this momentum and continue to challenge for national titles in the 100m and 200m, further establishing himself as one of the top sprinters in the nation.
4. TJ Hansen, Freeland (Mich.)
TJ Hansen has firmly established himself as one of the top distance runners in the country, and his impressive cross-country and track performances only further solidify his credentials. Coming off a stellar cross-country season, Hansen finished second at Nike Cross Nationals, capturing the Michigan state title, and setting a new 5K personal best of 14:41. His success on the trails has seamlessly translated to the track, where he has proven himself to be just as formidable.
In 2023, Hansen turned heads during the indoor track season, finishing second in the mile at the prestigious Millrose Games with a time of 4:05.87. He also claimed the MITCA D2 State title in the 800m with a time of 1:54.27 and finished fourth at the Brooks PR Invitational in the mile with a personal best of 4:04.28. With his range from the mile to the 2-mile, where he ran 8:51 indoors, Hansen is a versatile threat who will be looking to build on his momentum in the upcoming outdoor season. As the #2 mile returner and the #1 2-mile returner this season, Hansen is poised for another strong year, with the potential to challenge for national titles across multiple events.
5. Tommy Latham, Marist (Ga.)
Tommy Latham has solidified his reputation as one of the top distance runners in the Class of 2025 with a remarkable 2024 outdoor season, following a stellar cross country campaign. The future University of North Carolina athlete claimed the 6A Georgia State titles in both the 1600m (4:01.66) and 3200m (9:15.36), setting a Georgia state record in the 3200m with a time of 8:46.88. He also finished second in the mile at the RunningLane Track Championships (4:03), fourth at the HOKA Festival of Miles (4:01.74), and third at Nike Outdoor Nationals (4:03.09), ranking him #6 nationally and the top miler in the Class of 2025.
Latham's success extends beyond the track, as he had a fantastic cross country season, finishing 4th at Nike Cross Nationals and securing his third Georgia state title. With fatigue potentially a factor after his busy schedule, Latham's continued success in the 1600m and 3200m makes him one of the most exciting athletes to watch this season.
