The NXR Southwest field was left in awe by Jane Hedengren's performance this morning.
Hedengren came, conquered, and accomplished the unimaginable, clocking the fastest 5k ever recorded in high school girls cross country history.
Finishing 41 seconds ahead of second place, she crossed the line in a jaw-dropping 15:50.01.
To put this in perspective, Hedengren becomes only the second high school girl to break 16:00 on a cross-country course, joining Jenna Hutchins, who set the bar with a 15:58.42 at RunningLane in 2020.
Let that sink in.
While this may be her breakthrough moment, the Timpview senior and BYU commit is no stranger to success. In the spring, she posted a 9:45.44 3200m, a 4:37.17 mile, and a 2:07.85 800m, earning two state titles and one national title in the process.
Now, she can add 'course record holder' to her resume.
