Northridge (Ala.) sophomore Lucian McWaters has had a strong sophomore season, taking off nearly eight minutes from the best time he put forth as a freshman. McWaters clocked 17:24.7 at the Northridge XC Invitational, more enough to take 7:49.25 off of his freshman mark of 25:13.95.

Rhys Blackman out of Pitman (N.J.) nearly matched McWaters, lowering his PB by 7:44.14. Last October, Blackman clocked 25:05.1, and has gone as fast as 17:20.96 this fall.

Belen Jesuit's (Fla.) Marcelo Mantecon ram 14:40.2 at the Great American XC Festival early last month, an eight-second improvement from his freshman year.
