In the midst of the annual state championship chaos, junior girls from coast to coast kept their heads down and took care of business wherever they raced.

Governor John Rogers Senior (Wash.) junior Ariel Katsel is the top improver throughout the Class of 2026 up to this point. As a sophomore, Katsel clocked 29:32.5 for her lifetime best, but has since taken over 8:30 off of that mark, most recently running 21:01.1 at the SPSL 4A League Championship Meet.
Pella's (Iowa) Marissa Ferebee is the quickest junior in 2024, coming off of a new PB and state record of 16:30.9 at the Iowa State Championships. Ferebee took off 2:07 from her sophomore best, and has since established herself as one of the top runners in the nation.
