With another weekend of state championships in the books, high school juniors continue to excel across the country, smashing their personal bests from a year ago.

Rogers City's (Mich.) Jack Sharar is the top junior improver in the nation this fall, taking off nearly 9:30 from his best 5k time as a sophomore. After running 26:26.96 at the Dwayne Rau Memorial Invite in 2023, Sharar has run as fast as 17:02.51 for 5k this fall, a 9:24 improvement in just over a year.
Southlake-Carroll's (Texas) Caden Leonard is the fastest junior this year after running 14:33.5 a month ago at his UIL 6A District meet. The two-time UIL state champ has lowered his PB by over 22 seconds so far this year and can take even more off over the next few weeks.
