As we gear up for the final weekend of racing in October, underclassmen around the country are still firing on all cylinders.

For some, the adjustment to high school competition can take time to fully come together, but these four sophomores are racing like veterans.

MORE MILESPLIT:

From a pair of meets down south to some early postseason meets in Minnesota and New Jersey, a few youngsters introduced themselves over the weekend.

Check out these four talented runners who make up this season's fifth edition of Future Stars.

ANDREW BEROSET

Gulf Breeze (Fla.)

Class of 2027

The star sophomore is coming off of the best performance in his young career, finishing fourth at the New World Fall Spectacular. Beroset clocked 15:05, just four seconds back of the runner-up. Beroset is the second-fastest underclassman in the state this season and is the third-fastest underclassman in Florida history. The sophomore 3-3 on the year, and has only finished outside of the top five once.

PAIGE SHEPPARD

Union Catholic (N.J.)

Class of 2027

The Union Catholic star made a lot of noise on the track this past spring, but it turns out she's a force to be reckoned with on the grass as well. Last week at the Union County Conference Championships, Sheppard set a lifetime best of 17:13 as she picked up her fourth-straight win. Sheppard also led the Vikings to a 1-2-3-4-5 finish, notching a perfect score. Already, the sophomore is the third-fastest underclassman in New Jersey history, and sits atop the statewide leaderboard heading into October's last weekend.

RILEY COMSTOCK

Harrison (Ga.)

Class of 2027

After running sub-15:10 for the first time in his career, Comstock kept the momentum for a second consecutive week with another great race. The sophomore took sixth at the 22nd Annual Coach Wood Invitational in 15:05.46, just two seconds quicker than his previous best. Comstock is the fourth-fastest sophomore in state history and sits No. 8 in Georgia this season.

LINNEA OUSDIGIAN

Mounds View (Minn.)

Class of 2027

After a tremendous freshman campaign a year ago, Ousdigian has been on a tear as a sophomore. So far this fall, the Mustang standout has broke 18:00 three times, and the one time she didn't was during her seventh-place finish at Roy Griak. This last weekend, Ousdigian ran 17:21.3 in a runner-up finish at the Suburban East Cross Country Championships, marking her first time ever running sub-17:40, more than enough for a 28-second PB.
