Alexander/Asics Invitational Brings Together Elite Talent

The Alexander/Asics Invitational was a spectacular showcase of talent, drawing in a record 5,164 athletes and marking it as one of the biggest meets ever held in Georgia. The excitement was palpable as teams from across the state and beyond competed fiercely in various races, making it a highlight of the cross-country season.

In the boys' race, Jackson Hogsed from Lambert High School claimed victory with an impressive time of 14:56.14, edging out Asheville's Michael Haskin (15:01.82) and Cleveland High School's Owen Clemons (15:04.60) for the top three spots. Hogsed has had a great season with top-five finishes at both the Wingfoot XC Classic and the Southern Showcase, before breaking through here for his first victory of the season. 

Denmark High School emerged victorious in the boys' team competition, scoring 168 points with an average time of 16:11 and an impressive 1-5 split of just 1:00. West Forsyth High School closely followed in second place with 185 points and a 16:19 average. Both teams showcased the depth and competitiveness expected in a meet of this caliber, confirming their status as top contenders in Georgia. 

On the girls' side, sophomore Averi Lowen of Bowdon took first place with a time of 17:11.33, while Pace Academy's Zahara Bernal finished strong in second at 17:18.17. Lowen has continued her meteoric ascent this season, shaving 37 seconds off her personal best from earlier this season and now having taken almost three minutes off her best time from 2023. 

The team race for the girls saw Bishop Kenny High School take the top honor with 152 points, maintaining a solid average time of 19:17 and a 1-5 split of 0:48. Pensacola Christian Academy finished in second with 188 points, and Pace Academy took third with 201 points, showcasing the depth of talent among the teams.
