After a successful high school career at Hendrickson just north of Austin, Amir Thompson signed the dotted line, officially becoming a Texas Longhorn.

Last week, the son of Olympic legends Marion Jones-Thompson and Obadele Thompson, officially made his college decision just ahead in time for the start of the fall year.

Thompson's Hawk career was capped off by a runner-up and fourth-place finish at Nike Outdoor Nationals in the 100m and 200m double.

In the 100m, Thompson clocked 10.5, a quarter of a second back of Maurice Gleaton Jr. of Langston Hughes (GA).

Thompson followed his first medal with a solid finish behind a trio of high-caliber sprinters.

As he gets set to start what could be a tremendous collegiate career, Thompson will try to follow in his parent's Olympic footsteps.
