We Mic'ed up AAU Champ Stefon Dodoo Before His 800m Prelim

Among the many compelling stories at the AAU Junior Olympic Games was Stefon Dodoo, a rising senior for Springhill Chestnut Hill Academy.

The Philadelphia native broke 1:50 for the first time in May at the Independent School Championships in Pennsylvania, clocking a time of 1:49.69.

At the AAU Junior Olympic Games, he returned to the track looking to build his star-power.

He was at Truist Stadium in July hoping to accomplish drop sub-1:50 again at the AAU Junior Olympic Games in Greensboro, North Carolina.

MileSplit was with Dodoo to capture his pre-race routine during his preliminary race on July 29, where he went on to qualify for the finals in 1:53.98. Two days later, he won an AAU national championship -- his first since 2022 -- in the 800m final in a time of 1:50.69.

Dodoo finished his junior campaign with personal records in the 800m (1:49.69) and 1,600m (4:33.07) and ran a season best of 47.55 in the 400m.
