Ten years ago, Kevin Jermyn resigned as Duke University's women's cross country and distance coach.
You couldn't blame him. He had two young children, and his wife was ready to return to the workforce. Jermyn wanted to be around the house more to support his family.
He returned to college coaching three years later at Elon University, where he helped both the men's and women's teams improve.
A decade later, now he's back at Duke. Last month, Jermyn took over as the Blue Devil's head distance and cross country coaches for both genders. Naturally, he has high aspirations.
During his initial tenure at Duke from 2000 to 2014, Jermyn led the women's team to the NCAA Cross Country Championships nearly every year, including earning second- and third-place finishes in 2004 and 2005.
