If you needed any more proof that the AAU Junior Olympic Games has become a starting line for track and field's biggest stars, here's that evidence.

Three years ago, as a 13-year-old from Chesapeake, Virginia, Quincy Wilson arrived in Humble, Texas ready to throw down in the 400m.

And that's what he did, clocking a time of 50.59 seconds in 2021 to win his division at the AAU Junior Olympic Games.

Of course, we know where this story went.

At 16-years old this summer, Wilson kept up with professionals until the final round of the men's 400m at the U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials, where he placed sixth and ran a final time of 44.94. Wilson later got the call that he would be on the U.S. relay pool headed to the Olympics in Paris.

The Bullis School sophomore's performances at the U.S. Olympic Trials broke a a World U18 record and the national high school record with his time of 44.59, which took took down a 42-year-old mark that was last accomplished by Darrell Robinson in 1982.

In his post-race interview in 2021, Wilson said he didn't finish where he thought he would in the 200m, 200m hurdles -- yes, the 200 meter hurdles -- and 4x400m relay.

But Wilson did shave off over half a second between his prelim and final time, earning his fourth gold medal at the Junior Olympics.
