"Honestly, I've run 45.19, 45.17 and 45.13," Wilson said. "Everything has been consistent, everything has been smooth. All my races are coming together. I'm working on different things in each one of these races."
Wilson's run on Saturday makes him the second-fastest U18 athlete in history, only trailing Jonathan Simms' 45.12 from 2023.
Wilson, a U.S. Olympic Trials qualifier, broke his previous personal best time.

Wilson ran a 45.17 at the East Coast International Showcase in May. This outdoor season, Wilson also won the 400m at the Florida Relays in 45.19.
"My race plan is going good," Wilson. "I've run a lot of great races, a lot of great 400ms. Everything has been smooth. That's been the main thing. Nothing has been a crazy fight. But at Trials, the best of the best is going to be there. I'm going to have to give it my 'A' game."
Ohio native Mateo Medina chased after Bullis to his inside and placed second in the hot heat with a time of 46.41.
Medina is coming off three individual state titles in Ohio for Elyria and an outright team title for his efforts in June. Jaden Marchan was third overall in 46.58.
