Broen Holman has closely followed the college cross country and track and field scene for years.
Holman, a junior at Sonora (CA) High School, has been running since he was a young kid. His father, Darren, is the head cross country and distance coach at California State University, Stanislaus, which is an NCAA Division II program.
The Holmans watch all of the major NCAA meets, so Broen is keenly aware of Northern Arizona University, which has emerged as the nation's preeminent men's distance program.
Starting in the fall of 2025, Holman will be a member of the Lumberjacks' team. He recently became the first boy in the Class of 2025 to commit to NAU and hopes to continue the school's distance legacy. The Lumberjacks have won six of the past eight NCAA men's cross country meets and finished second the other two times.
